Phlegrean Fields - Private Tour

7 or 14 nights from € 0,00 / person
Description

This tour of the Phlegrean Fields, which includes Cuma, Baia and Pozzuoli is highly recommended for nature and archaeology lovers.

You can explore in 8 hours a unique and suggestive area thanks to the new archaeological discoveries. Along the way you will stop in the Puteolana area for a visit to the Flavio amphitheatre, which is a wonderful example of a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, the third largest amphitheatre in Roman times.

After Pozzuoli, your driver will take you to the ancient Greek city of Cuma, the oldest of the Greek colonies, which later became a rich and prestigious centre. Ancient legends tell that it was founded in 740 BC by settlers from Chalkis and soon became an important centre for trade. Among the highlights of the archaeological park of Cuma, we find the famous Temple of Jupiter, the amphitheatre, the thermal building and other numerous ruins from the Roman period as well as the famous Sybil's cave.

On the way back, you can admire the fascinating coastal town of Baia, once called "Little Rome" that became the summer destination of the Roman emperors. In short, all you have to do is take advantage of this tour of the Phlegrean Fields for an in-depth knowledge of some of the most ancient Greek-Roman colonies, which have populated the Campania coast for centuries.
